Inside the Mind of a Pro: knocking on heaven's door

Is Ivan Deyra about to win a World Series of Poker bracelet? You're 48 minutes away from finding out!

Inside the Mind of a Pro - Ivan Deyra 11 WSOP the end
Inside the Mind of a Pro's audience could be split right down the middle for our latest episode. On the one side, we have the casual fans, those who are not necessarily following the daily life of the Winamax Team intensely, and therefore have no idea of the eventual destiny of the players we film. Those people start each new episode wondering if this will be the one where they fall to a random coin-flip, or a vicious setup. For them, drama is high, tension is at its peak: more often than not, the wait before the next episode feels like torture.

On the other side, there are the hardcore fans. Those "regs" visit the poker news websites on a daily basis; they constantly refresh the live updates coming from Vegas, and are avid Twitter followers of the poker community major players. Thus, before starting a new season of Inside the Mind of a Pro, they are keenly aware of what is about to happen, after cheering on the Winamax Team players throughout the previous summer. For them, each new episode is akin to watching good ol' Columbo: right from the start, you know who did it; the excitement and the pleasure won’t come from finding out who is the murderer, but how said murderer will get caught by the detective with the rumpled raincoat and the extinguished cigar. Episode after episode, they revel in listening to the player's insight, rediscovering tricky hands they have already been stressing about a year before under a new light. They're watching the same game all over again, but this replay comes with tons of extra footage, and private moments captured before the game, during the game, and after the game.

Whichever camp you belong to, the time has come for the final episode of this extended season devoted to the 2019 World Series of Poker. What began in February in a very different world (pre-pandemic, pre-quarantine, pre-everything-turns-to-shit... has it really been only 6 months? For fuck's sake!) is now ending with 3 players left in Event 79, and with Ivan Deyra holding a commanding lead. After cheering on Davidi Kitai, crying with Pierre Calamusa, triumphing with Joao Vieira, bubbling with Mustapha Kanit, going for a little ride with Aladin Reskalah, and holding our collective breaths with Ivan Deyra, it’s now time to stress out one last time. You are 48 minutes away from finding out if "ValueMerguez" has entered poker history or not, whether he has risen to the top of the podium and lifted the World Champion bracelet or fallen from the top of the chip count to the depths of the exit corridor. Enjoy these rare and precious moments, because after this, your favourite poker show is gonna leave for a well-deserved holiday!
