Due to the sanitary restrictions in Ireland, there will be no WPO in 2020.
"We'll talk about it again in September." This is how we left things off in June, through our article announcing the cancellation of SISMIX, leaving the question of the WPO Dublin in suspense.
September has arrived! It is now time to make a decision, which won't be a surprising one to anybody, even though it remains just as frustrating. The 11th edition of the Winamax Poker Open Dublin has been will not take place. At least not on the initially-planned dates, between 30th November and 6th December.
We won't be making any long speeches, as we would just be repeating ourselves with our announcement in March (for the WiPT Grand Final in Spain) and in June. Since then, the sanitary situation has not evolved favourably enough, including in Ireland, where many businesses are still closed to this day, and where gathering of more than six people are banned. We're not too sure that playing in 6-max would allow us to get around this government decision...
Just like the Spanish version of the WiPT, just like the SISMIX, our oldest of festivals is therefore, unfortunately, still not able to take place.
Should you have a ticket or package to one of the Winamax live events (we're mainly thinking of our partner clubs), please rest assured: they remain valid, so keep them safe. Now you're certainly wondering: when? When will we be seeing each other for a new live poker fiesta? It is still too early to answer this question precisely. One thing is certain: in our minds, it's already 2021.
Next year, we have a goal, a horizon filled with hope, to offer a live event with a Winamax twist. We're already getting prepared, and we're hoping to tell you more very soon. In the meantime, be well, and good luck on our online tables.
