With the bubble behind him, the pay jumps have become yet another factor Adrián Mateos has to take into account before each new decision.
Playing a poker tournament is a bit like climbing a ladder. There's only one way to go: up! A climber in good shape will go through the steps with ease, regularly building a good stack, which won't prevent him from falling back a few steps from time to time, after a failed bluff or an unlucky river. Sometimes, the fall will be fatal, after a big coin-flip lost or a missed draw. In the Caribbean Poker Party Main Event, it's now been two days of steady climbing for Adrián Mateos. Among the 947 other players attempting the same climb, only 82 remain on the ladder. Does this mean that over 90% of the climb has been completed? Well, no. This isn't a linear climb, you see. In terms of play, we're only half-way there. And as you're about to find out in this new episode, the metaphor is gonna turn into something very real: the day after the bubble, our hero is gonna keep his eyes glued to the prize ladder, which is becoming one more factor to take into account before each new decision.
