Inside the Mind of a Pro: almost at the final table!
inThere are only 8 players remaining in the $5,000 WSOP Short-Handed event. Only 7 of them will reach the final table, and Pierre Calamusa is certainly not planning on missing out.
It goes without saying: Pierre Calamusa has never been closer to his first World Series of Poker final table. We are just one elimination away from the very last table of the $5,000 6-max event. Pierre’s Winamax teammate João Vieira is one of his biggest threats, but the Portuguese pro is out of his way for now, currently seated at the other table. This doesn’t mean Pierre will be able to safely cruise to the final table, as seated next to him is none other than Joe Cada, the 2009 Main Event champion.Brace yourselves for a fierce battle between Pierre and Joe in episode 5, with tons of big pots that will leave you speechless. What’s more, this confrontation - the outcome of which we won’t spoil - is only half the fun, since we have also released the sixth episode, where things will heat up even further.
In these scary and uncertain times, with many of us stuck at home for an undetermined amount of time, it’s reassuring that we can still count on our favourite poker show to entertain us. So sit back, relax, enjoy, and most importantly: take care of yourselves.
Side note - The case of the pink elephant. What the hell? You might get puzzled upon hearing a particular exchange between Pierre and Winamax team-manager Stéphane Matheu in episode 6. We asked Stéphane to clarify what he meant when he mentioned this mysterious pink elephant. Stéphane: “It’s about a neuro-science theory that I personally adhere to, which explains that the human brain is often prone to ignore thoughts expressed in the negative tense, such as: I don’t want to/I can’t/I shouldn’t do this or do that. In truth, negation is only expressed in sentences. An often-quoted example says the following: “If I ask you not to think about the pink elephant, what are you thinking about?” Thus, the idea is to lead my players to formulate thoughts in a positive manner, and express what they want to do rather than what they want to avoid doing. Get it?” More or less, Stéphane. Thanks coach!
