Inside the Mind of a Pro: Adrián Mateos kick-starts the new season

Monday is back to being your favorite day of the week.

Inside the Mind of a Pro - Adrian Mateos 1
Wait, what? A new season of Inside the Mind of a Pro? October 2020? Whilst the live poker circuit has grinded almost completely to a halt? You could call that a miracle, but it's actually more of a happy accident. In November of 2019, the producers of your favorite poker show were flying to the Bahamas to film the Winamax Team during the Caribbean Poker Party, a sunny stop on the MILLIONS circuit run by Party Poker. Nobody knew at the time, but this high buy-ins, huge guarantees affair would end up being one of the last major poker events organized before the pandemic hit the "Pause" button with its dirty and contagious fingers. Back from the Caribbean, our production team shelved the memory cards containing the footage shot under the sun. They had more urgent business to take care of: putting the finishing touches to the post-production of the season shot three months prior in Las Vegas. You all know by know: the Winamax Team was very, very successful during the last World Series of Poker, making the "2019 Vegas" season the longest in the history of the series, with 33 episodes topped off with two bracelet wins.

Today, after a three-month break, the moment has finally come to raise the curtain on the last season shot before the live poker world stopped. The word "break" only applies to you, spectators: behind the shadows, the production team has never really stopped working, and we are proud to say that the result of this hard work can be found on screen, whether we're talking about the production of the show, or the quality of poker displayed at the table. As usual, great care has been put into both, and that's about all we are willing to reveal about this new season: even though the footage you are about to watch is almost a year old, we refuse to engage in the spoiler business. For now, all you need to know is that the Caribbean Poker Party is starting, and before the Main Event kicks off, Adrián Mateos is warming up his engine on a $10,000 buy-in Highroller with 200 players expected to join. A small field, granted, but featuring many of the very best MTT players in the world, and a whole load of faces you'll easily recognize. The all-time number 1 Spanish player is in an unusual situation at the moment: for the first time since he turned pro, Adrián is having a losing year. Are the Bahamas the oasis that will put an end to a dry spell? In order to find out, we'll catch you here every Monday morning!
