[Blog] My best version

New year, new life. 2023 is here, people are excited, every smoker in the world will quit cigarettes, every gym in the world is full of newly-signed members, half of which will remain by the time March comes. January 2024 will be the same.

I´m not immune to New Year goals. I like them. The turning of the calendar year will not make miracles for you or your habits, but it can provide the motivation for you to make the decision to be a different person, to have better habits. And José Saramago brilliantly wrote: “A man is already a different man, when he makes a decision”.

I entered 2023 filled with focus, speed, and fulfilment. I´m ready to go. But to go where? To play, to travel, to profit and money hunt? Yes, a little bit. But I also want to go a little further, a little deeper. I want to go on a personal deep dive and search within me for ways to be the best version of myself that I can be. Change what needs changing. Learning about things that I am passionate about. Polish what needs polishing.

I know, I know. You must be thinking: “Oh here we go, another one of these young successful idiots giving me this BS from the library’s self-help shelf”. I get it. But that´s how I feel.

I want to start my days full of energy and love directed towards what needs to be done. I want to finish the day looking back and thinking “Today was a great fucking day”. Pardon my French.

I´m not looking forward to next Sunday, or to EPT Paris, or the WSOP, or next holidays. I´m trying to live a life that’s worth living. And there´s only one way to do that, as far as I know: when you’re living a life where you do not want the day to end. That´s a life worth living.

Thanks for taking a few moments to read this. Now it's time for both of us to get our asses off the couch and enjoy whatever´s left of today. Go for a walk, enjoy a show or podcast or a book. Call a mate, chug some beers. Hug your loved ones. Call your parents if they’re still around. Whatever it is. Do it.

Be the best version of yourself.
